View of landscape at One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill

A tranquil spot in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, One Tree Hill rewards walkers with wonderful views over the rolling green hills of the Weald of Kent.

In 1911, the site was bought and protected under the National Trust Act. Back then, it was largely arable and pasture land. Nowadays, One Tree Hill is covered in deciduous woodland, which puts on a spectacular display of bluebells in the spring. A network of paths and bridleways needle through the site’s open plateau and woodland. It’s home to rare species of molluscs, insects and plants, and recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
