The Green at Westerham Kent

Shopping in Westerham

Small but perfectly formed, the market town of Westerham is just the place for a shopping spree. The timber-framed buildings that house the town’s eclectic shops make for some picturesque window shopping.

The Green, at the eastern end of the High Street, is flanked by statues of Westerham’s two most famous residents: General James Wolfe and Sir Winston Churchill, both successful military leaders. You can visit their homes, Quebec House and Chartwell, while you’re in the area, but for now, grab a coffee in one of the tea shops surrounding the Green and plot your shopping tactics.

As you walk up the High Street, dip into the independent shops, Georgian inns and beautifully presented delicatessens that help give Westerham its distinct character. You’ll find interiors studios, clothing boutiques, jewellers, chocolate shops and ornaments from around the world. There’s a tight-knit community here, and it shows in the support the shop owners give each other, and the warm welcome given to visitors and locals alike.
